A.C. Craps Documentation File
Thank you for obtaining a copy of A.C. Craps. The rules are the
same that can be found in most casino's in Nevada and Atlantic
City, however you should always check the rules before doing any
actual gambling.
I hope you enjoy this program but please remember that it is
Shareware and if you continue to use it you must pay a
registration fee of $15.00.
Shareware is try before you buy software that is written by
people and marketed for your use. This allows people to use a
fully operational program and decide whether or not they need to
buy it, unlike retail software that you purchase only to find out
it is not exactly what you needed. Shareware can only be
successful with your continued support.
With the receipt of your registration you will receive the
following:
1) The current version of the software (may be the same as
you have now but it will not include the shareware screen)
2) Notice of Updates
3) You can register A.C. Roulette for $5.00 instead of $15.00
4) As an added bonus people who register A.C. Craps will
receive a the Dumb and Smart craps program which explains
the house advantages and which wagers give you the best
advantage against the casino. This program is elaborated
on in Paragraph 3.0
The remainder of this file describes how to start the game, and
some of the things you will need to know to begin playing.
It is divided into the following sections:
1.0 Describes the hardware requirements to run the program.
2.0 How to start the program.
3.0 Explains how to play the game and use the keyboard and
mouse effectively.
4.0 Describes the Hot keys which will allow you to place
your wagers.
5.0 How to toggle the sound.
6.0 Explains the Menu commands.
7.0 How to obtain technical support.
8.0 Final notes.
1.0 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
This program requires an IBM or IBM compatible computer
with at least 300 K of free memory. The program will run
on the following monitors:
Ega
Vga
Mcga
Hercules (You may have problems seeing the mouse
cursor in this mode)
It does not require a color monitor or a mouse, however
both are recommended. The following files are required, and
must be in the same directory as ACCraps.exe.
Odds.lst : Contains the odds info.
HKeys.lst : Contains the hot key info.
HAdvtge.Lst : Contains the House Advantage info.
H.Hlp : Contains the help info.
CFiles.Sav : Contains a list of files to choose
from when saving or restoring a game.
*.Crp And *.Bts : These files contain the information used
when you save and restore your games.
The DsCraps.Tut is for the Dumb and Smart craps Tutor
program, which will be sent to you upon registration.
2.0 STARTING THE PROGRAM
To start the program ensure you are in the same directory
that the game is in. If you must change to that directory
then, type the following at the DOS prompt
"cd [Directory Name]" and press <Enter>.
For further information consult your DOS manual.
To start the program type Accraps at the DOS prompt.
3.0 HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
The following paragraphs will explain how to play the game
and give a brief description of when bets can be made and
what their consequences will be.
3.1 HOW TO USE THE MOUSE
To select items in the Menu Bar just Click the left
button on the selection you would like to make.
To select a wager Click the left button in the area
of the screen where you are trying to make a wager.
To select an item in a window the item must be double
clicked. Alternatively the item can be clicked once with
the left button and then the mouse will highlight the area
under the cursor. Clicking the left button again selects
the highlighted item. Pressing the right button when a
window is open is equivalent to pressing Esc.
If a window is opened with a scroll bar the mouse can be
clicked in the scroll bar and the text in the window will
display the text corresponding to that position
(i.e. Clicking in the middle of the scroll bar displays
the middle of the text list). Clicking on the up or down
arrows will increment or decrement the list by one.
3.2 HOW TO USE THE KEYBOARD
All menu commands can be executed from the keyboard by
pressing the first letter of the menu item. This also
applies to all open windows that require entry.
If a window is open with a scroll bar, the bar is
incremented and decremented by the Up and Down arrow keys.
The Home and End keys will move to the start and end of the
list. Also Page up and Page Down will move the list up and
down. Once the window is open it can be closed by pressing
ESC. You will exit the window without making program entry.
To make wagers with the Keyboard you must press the
HotKey combination for the desired wager. These HotKeys are
listed in paragraph 4.0 and can be viewed at any time from
the View/Hotkey window selection.
3.3 PLAYING THE GAME
When the game is started you will see the Craps table
drawn on the screen. The opening window will ask you to
enter the number of players (1 to 4). You can either
select the amount of players by double clicking the mouse
in the desired box or entering the number from the
keyboard. Next you'll be prompted to enter the players
name. Only characters and spaces are allowed, no numbers
please. If you make a mistake a window will open telling
where the mistake is. Press escape and re-enter the field.
Now the program is waiting for you to make a wager.
Notice the puck in the upper left corner of the screen,
the words on it are OFF. This means that this is the
come out roll. To make a wager move the mouse to that
area of the screen and click once, or use the hotkey
combination listed in paragraph 4.0 for the desired bet.
For multiple players a window will open asking which
player will make the wager. After selecting which player,
the wager window will open and prompt you for a wager
amount. Please enter only whole dollar amounts otherwise
the error window will open. Now that your wager is made
go ahead and roll the dice by selecting Roll from the menu
bar or pressing R on the Keyboard.
Now that you know how to make wagers and roll the dice
you must understand how to play craps to continue. Below
is a very basic summation of some the rules.
There are two types of bettors, Right bettors, and Wrong
bettors. Right bettors play against the house and Wrong
bettors play with the house. The names Right and Wrong do
not imply that one method is better than the other it just
implies which side your betting with. Right Bets are the
Pass Line and Come Bar, Wrong Bets are the Don't Pass Line
and Don't Come Bar.
3.4 RIGHT BETTING
If you make a Pass Line wager on the come out roll,
(incidentally the only time you should make this wager,
because after a point number has been established the odds
are against you), and a seven or eleven is rolled you win,
roll a two, three, or twelve (Craps) and you lose, any other
number rolled becomes your Point number. Notice that the
puck is now moved to that number in the point boxes with the
words 'On' printed on it. To win the Pass Line wager, you
must repeat the point number before you roll a seven. If
you roll a seven, you have sevened out and you lose your
Pass Line wager. In the Casino Crap Game if you've sevened
out the dice are passed to the next roller. If you are
successful in repeating the point number you have won and
will be paid 1:1 odds ($5.00 for every $5.00 wagered).
There is a way to increase the payoff. You can make a
Pass Line Odds wager. This is done by Clicking the mouse
behind the Pass Line. In order to make an Odds bet you must
have already made a Pass Line wager and a point # must be
established. If these conditions don't exist then a window
will open informing you that you cannot make an Odds Bet.
The amount you will be allowed to wager is either equal to
or twice the amount you wagered on the Pass Line*. The
amount you will be paid is dependent upon which point number
has been rolled. The payoff for the odds are listed below
and can be viewed at any time from the View/View Odds menu
selection.
POINT # ODDS
4 - 10 2 : 1
5 - 9 3 : 2
6 - 8 6 : 5
* There are instances when you can wager more than twice
your Pass Line wager. This is because the odds you will be
paid when a point # is repeated will not payoff in a whole
dollar amount, i.e. If you wager $5 on the Pass Line and the
Point Number is 9, then you make an Odds bet for $5 your
payoff will be $7.50 which cannot be paid by the casino.
At the Casino you would be cheated out of $.50. Here
however a window opens informing you the correct amount to
wager that will produce an even dollar amount payoff. This
is done for your education, it constantly reminds you of the
correct odds that these wagers pay off at. It is to your
advantage to make an Odds bet for more than you have wagered
on the Pass Line. To understand why Run the Dumb And Smart
Craps program. (This program will be sent to all Registered
users. It informs you which bets should be made and which
ones shouldn't based upon the house advantages.).
3.5 COME BETTING
To make a Come wager a Point Number must already be
established (Come wagers cannot be made on the come out
roll) and a seven or eleven is rolled you win, roll a two,
three, or twelve (Craps) and you lose, Any other number
rolled becomes your Point number and your chips are moved
to that point box. To win the Come wager, you must repeat
the point number before you roll a seven. If you roll a
seven, you lose your Come wager. If you are successful in
repeating the point number you have won and will be paid
1:1 odds ($5.00 for every $5.00 wagered). You can make a
Come Odds wager just like you can make a Pass Line Odds
wager. This is done by Clicking the mouse in the Point
Number box where your chips were moved. The payoff for
the odds are the same as those for the Pass Line. When
you win a come wager your chips will be returned to the
Come area.
3.7 WRONG BETTING
If you make a Don't Pass wager on the come out roll,
(the only time you can make this wager), and a seven or
eleven is rolled you lose. If a two, or a three, is rolled
you win, roll a twelve and it is a tie (push). Any other
number rolled becomes your point number. Now a seven must
be rolled before the point number for you to win your wager.
Notice this is the opposite of the Pass Line wager. The
bet pays 1 : 1 odds just as the Pass Line wager does.
Also there is an Odds bet that can be made. It is
made in the same place and in the same manner as the Odds
bet for the Pass Line, however instead of getting paid the
Odds you must Lay them, i.e. If you wager $10 on the Don't
Pass Line and the point number is established as 10 you must
bet $10 on the Odds to win $5.
3.8 DON'T COME BETTING
If you make a Don't Come wager, and a seven or eleven is
rolled you lose. If a two, or a three, is rolled you win,
roll a twelve and it is a tie (push). Any other number
rolled becomes your point number and your chips are moved
above that Point box. Now a seven must be rolled before
the point number for you to win your wager. The bet
pays 1:1 odds. After you have won your wager your chips
will be moved to the Don't Come area.
An Odds wager can be made where your chips
have been moved. Instead of getting paid the Odds you must
Lay them, i.e. If your Don't Come wager is $5 and the odds
are established as 2:1 you must make an Odds bet of $10 to
win $5.
3.9 OTHER WAGERS
Other Bets on the table are known as prop bets. All
prop bets are decided on one roll, except for the hardway
wagers. The hardway bets win when a number is thrown the
hard way (doubles), and lose when the number is thrown in
any other manner or if a seven is rolled, i.e. If you bet
on the hard 8 and a 4 is rolled on each die then you win if
any other combination totalling eight, or a seven is rolled
you lose. The other prop bets are one time rolls. Betting
on the eleven and you are wagering that the eleven will come
out on this roll. The payoff odds are listed on the table
or in the "View/View Odds" window. For more information on
the prop and hardway wagers see the help screens.
4.0 LIST OF HOT KEYS
The following is a list of Hot Keys which can be used if
you do not have a mouse. Notice the hotkeys are laid out
almost as the craps table itself is. The Point Bets at the

Twelve), and the rest are Shift keys.

HOTKEYS
This window reflects the hotkey combination for all wagers
on the table.
PERCENTAGES
Certain wagers are more advantageous to make than other
wagers. There is a percentage of a number coming up
on one roll, this is what determines the odds and
corresponding payoff. Since all bets pay off at less
than correct odds, the casino maintains an advantage.
These House Advantages as they are known are listed in this
window. By examining these advantages it becomes clear that
the wagers with high house advantages should not be made
consistently. If you win a wager with a high house
advantage you are not getting paid all the winnings you are
entitled to. Don't get upset by this fact because this is
how the casino stays in business. If they paid off at
correct odds over the long run the best the Casino's could
hope to do is break even on all wagers. If you are planning
a trip to a casino this information is vital, since most
uninformed players will lose most of their money making
these bets consistently. The Dumb and Smart craps program
will be sent to you when you register. This program
explains why certain bets should not be made (using the
above mentioned House Advantages). The program is not
intended as a gambling guide and you will not be a
guaranteed winner if you follow it's recommendations,
but you will be an informed gambler which gives you the best
opportunity of winning.
6.3 Roll Dice
This selection will roll the dice.
6.4 Help
This selection will display help information. You will
need to specify which bet you desire help on by clicking on
the desired bet. After the help window pops up press
"n" for Next, "p" for Previous, Esc or Right mouse button
to remove the window. Once all help information has been
displayed you will be returned to the game.
6.5 Quit

8.0 FINAL NOTES
These rules may vary from casino to casino. Please
check all rules prior to any actual gambling.
If you desire to gamble in a Casino please remember
that this is only a game and I (The Author of the game) do
not assume any responsibility for the loses you may incur
while gambling, you gamble at your own risk. This is just
a game and while it is easy to let $100 or more ride on one
roll, in a real life situation more caution should be
exercised. Remember gambling is exciting and can be a lot
of fun, especially if you are winning, but it is still a
disease that affects many people. Many people lose their
homes, savings, and destroy their lives before it is to
late. Please if you do gamble always play with what you can
afford to lose, and nothing more!
